Gaya: District health department will observe May 16 as the Dengue Day, aimed at creating awareness among people about the deadly disease ahead of the onset of monsoon.Health officials have been asked to involve municipal bodies, educational institutions, hospitals and other stakeholders in community sensitisation and early medical intervention.Civil surgeon Dr Raja Ram Prasad said, “Civic body has been instructed to ensure timely waste disposal, prevent waterlogging and carry out regular fogging and spraying. Vulnerable rural areas are also under surveillance, with enhanced monitoring planned ahead of the monsoon to curb mosquito breeding and minimise dengue risk.”Non-communicable disease officer Dr E Haque said, “Dengue is an acute illness marked by fever and rashes, while severe cases can lead to plasma leakage and shock, requiring hospitalisation.”
