Garhwa: The police advised people not to spread rumours of child-lifting, especially on social media, as many innocent people have been assaulted on assaulted on mere suspicion in the district.The officer in-charge (OC) of the Dandai police station, Animesh Shantikari, on Monday appealed to the people to refrain from spreading rumours about child-lifting. “Thrashing any person on suspicion of child-lifting is a criminal offence. Many innocent persons have been assaulted by mob only on suspicion of child-lifting.”Recently, villagers had caught a man on suspicion of child lifting at Raro village under the Dandai police station limits. The police brought the man to the police station, where he was found mentally unwell. A similar incident occurred at Sonehara village of the same police station limits.Urging the parents and guardians to keep tabs on their kids, the OC added, “Don’t take the law into your hands in any situation. Immediately inform the local police station or the police control room instead of thrashing the suspected persons.”
