Dumka: With the subsequent rise in the water level of the Ganga River, the Sahibganj district administration has issued warnings to residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to designated relief centres and deployed disaster response teams in vulnerable pockets. The Ganga River in Sahibganj crossed the danger mark on Sunday following incessant rainfall during the last few weeks, causing concern among the residents, particularly those belonging to low-lying areas and villages in Sahibganj. According to the latest report of the Central Water Commission (CWC), the water level of the Ganga is rising one inch every hour and touched the 26.89-metre mark on Sunday, thereby crossing the warning mark of 26.25 metres. “By Monday morning, the water level of the Ganga River can touch the 27.25-metre mark at Sahibganj by crossing the danger mark,” the CWC sources said.Sahibganj DC Hemant Sati, who himself inspected the flood-prone areas, said the district administration was on high alert and that circle officers of the respective areas were directed to remain vigilant and take necessary action.
