Noida: For nearly two weeks, residents of Supertech Supernova in Sector 94 have watched yellowish-black water trickle from their taps, foul-smelling and crawling with worms. Many of them, having paid crores for their flats, have now been forced to switch to packaged water for even basic daily needs.
Pallavi Kaushik, former president of Super Nova Apartment Owners’ Association (SNAOA), said the project had earlier received Ganga water, but the supply was stopped two years ago due to water dues of the insolvent builder.
She added that an application had been submitted to Noida Authority and the administration requesting resumption of the water supply, with the society charged from the day it is resumed rather than burdening residents with the outstanding dues of the builder.
Naresh Nandwani, adviser to SNAOA, said the developer had not cleared water dues of around Rs 42 lakh. “The outstanding amount has since risen to more than Rs 72 lakh, including penalties. This is why the water supply was disconnected,” he said.
Residents said they were dependent on borewell water, but since the processing was not good, worm-infested water kept coming to the taps.
Supertech chairman RK Arora told TOI that when the project was under the control of the promoter, Supernova company (SRPL), they got Ganga water supply connection from Noida Authority. “Payment of water bills was supposed to be deposited with Noida Authority by residents only as per their consumption. Since the project is under insolvency, we are unable to reply on the above issue,” he said.

However, of its total 2,800 units, residential and commercial, nearly 1,700 units are to be delivered in the project.Currently, 350 families live in two of the residential towers, Nova East and Nova West. A commercial tower, Astralis, is ready, while Spira, a mixed-use residential-office tower, is still under construction.In June 2024, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) ordered the initiation of insolvency proceedings against Supertech for its Supernova project, on a plea filed by Bank of Maharashtra over a default of Rs 168 crore. On Dec 16, 2025, Supreme Court constituted a three-member empowered committee headed by Justice (retd) M M Kumar to oversee the insolvency proceedings and ensure completion of the stalled Supernova project.“We are working with the court-monitored committee to fix the water processing and resume Ganga supply in the society now,” Nandwani said.A Noida Authority official said that since the project is not ready, no completion certificate has been issued. “We have also not issued official water supply to this high-rise,” the official said.
