Noida: A damaged 1,400mm Ganga water line in Sector 64 has triggered supply disruptions across numerous sectors in the city since late Saturday night. Officials have implemented temporary solutions through tube wells and Ranney wells while undertaking repairs. Some of the affected sectors are 53, 31, 64, 119, and 28.“There was a water supply failure on Saturday, and today, there has been no supply of drinking water in the area. There is no official information available regarding this situation,” said Praveen Singh, a resident of Sector 31.Singh added that with prior information from the water department, residents could have filled their tanks in advance.Similarly, Pushpa Sah, RWA president of Kanchanjunga Apartments, Sector 53, and Kavita Jamil, vice chairperson of Arun Vihar Residents Welfare Association (AVRWA, comprising Sectors 28, 29, and 37), also shared that their areas faced an acute water crisis.A similar situation was faced in 100x sectors as well as Sectors 71, 64, etc., where the latter faced flooding of the green belt area around the damaged pipeline. “The critical issue of the damaged Ganga water line in Sector 64 has worsened the severe water crisis in 100x sectors, which we have been experiencing for months. Despite numerous assurances from the Jal Board, no substantial action has been taken yet,” Nikhil Singhal, president of Noida Highrise Federation (NHRF) 100x Sectors, said.When contacted, Ashok Verma, senior manager, water department, Noida Authority, told TOI that the 1400 mm Ganga water line has been damaged in Sector 64 and repairs are being undertaken from Saturday night. “We expect the repairs to be done by Sunday evening and supply to resume thereafter. Till then, we are providing water from tubewells and Ranney wells. We are aware that nearly half of Noida Sectors are affected, and we are engaged in addressing the issue on priority,” said Verma
