Times News NetworkKanpur: Ganga’s rising water level has worsened flood conditions in riverside areas of Unnao, inundating new localities, disrupting movement and prompting the administration to deploy more boats.The river was recorded at 112.6 metres on Wednesday morning, 40cm below the danger mark of 113 metres. Central Water Commission said the level was likely to rise further on Wednesday. Continuous rainfall in hilly areas and water released into Ganga were affecting Unnao. All gates of Ganga Barrage in Kanpur are open.Although the pace of increase has slowed over the past two days, the river is rising by about 1cm an hour. If this continues, it may cross the danger mark by the end of the week.
