Bokaro Police injured dreaded criminal Prince Gupta—identified as the main kingpin of the Aman Sahu (deceased) gang, Rahul Dubey and Mayank Singh gang—in an encounter at Balidih, while arresting several operatives involved in extortion and illegal arms activities across the district.

The encounter took place during a late-night operation based on specific intelligence inputs. Police said Gupta opened fire on the police team, prompting retaliatory action in which he sustained bullet injuries. He has been admitted to a hospital and remains under police custody.
Addressing a press conference, Bokaro SP Havinder Singh said, “The operation was part of a broader strategy to dismantle organised extortion networks targeting traders and businessmen. During the Balidih operation, the accused fired upon the police team, and in retaliatory firing, he was injured and apprehended.”
Sharing details of the wider crackdown, the SP said total seven accused have been arrested in recent coordinated raids carried out across multiple police station areas, including City, Sector-4, Balidih and adjoining regions. Police also recovered illegal firearms, live cartridges, and other incriminating materials during the operation.
“The arrested individuals are linked to the gang and were actively involved in threatening and extorting local businessmen. Continuous raids are underway to identify and nab other associates,” Singh added.
Police records indicate Prince Gupta has a long criminal history with multiple cases registered against him, including extortion, Arms Act violations, and criminal intimidation. Officials said his interrogation is likely to reveal further details about the network’s operations and inter-district links.
The police have intensified vigil in sensitive pockets of Bokaro, and further action is expected as part of the ongoing drive to curb organised crime in the district.
