Bengaluru: An interstate gang involved in a daring break-in at a jewellery shop on Hesaraghatta Main Road was arrested and stolen silver articles worth Rs 98.4 lakh were recovered.The arrested are Jaat Suresh, 29, from Telangana’s KV Rangareddy district, Dhanram, 30, and Nemichand Patel, 27, from Rajasthan’s Pali district. Other gang members are absconding.Mahendra Kumar Jain of MB Jewellers in Havanur Layout said his shop was burgled on the night of April 27 and the gang had escaped with 70kg of silver articles. Jain had closed the shop around 9.15pm after placing gold ornaments in a locker and leaving the silver items in the showcase. The next morning, the building owner alerted him about the burglary.The gang had entered the shop through a neighbouring godown after drilling through the rear wall. Apart from looting silver ornaments, the burglars targeted a nearby ceramics godown and stole an HP laptop, a mobile phone, DVR equipment, sanitary items and cash. The total loss was around Rs 1.2 crore.Police tracked Suresh and Dhanram from Rajasthan on May 8. Based on their confession, the team recovered large quantities of melted silver and bars from jewellers and traders in Telangana, who had allegedly received the stolen property.Nemichand was arrested from Bengaluru Rural on May 17. Based on his statement, an additional 7kg of stolen silver articles were recovered.
