Rourkela: A Ganesh Puja pandal at Modern Ground in Civil Township collapsed during heavy rain and strong winds on Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported.The pandal, built by a local puja committee at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh, was modelled on Disneyland Paris and was one of the major attractions of the festival. Around 2.35 pm, heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed the city, causing the elaborate structure to cave in.Organisers said reconstruction work has already begun with artisans pressed into service to rebuild the pandal. The venue will remain closed to visitors for the next two days and is expected to reopen once restoration work is completed.
