Nagpur: Gittikhadan police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against a notorious gang involved in the murder of a youth near Futala Lake.On June 29, between 6.30pm and 7pm, complainant Salman Ishaq Sheikh (35) and his friends were eating bhutta at a roadside stall on the Futala Lake–Vayusena road in Gittikhadan when Yogendra alias Lala Shivankat Pandey (20) and his accomplices picked up a minor argument and allegedly stabbed Sheikh’s friends, Asad Khan and Mayur Jadhav. Asad later succumbed to his injuries at Dande Hospital.During the investigation, police arrested three key accused — Jitendra alias Jangli Pandey (25), Deepak alias Prince Gupta (19), and Yogendra alias Lala. Investigators found that the gang members were allegedly involved in several serious offences, including attempt to murder, illegal possession of weapons, assault, molestation, and illicit liquor trade in different parts of Nagpur.The three adult accused have been lodged in central jail, while four juveniles were sent to a reformatory home.
