Jamshedpur/Bhubaneswar: Celebrations broke out in Krishnapur village of Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Friday after native Ashiss Kumar Dash was appointed the next CEO and MD of Infosys.Villagers distributed sweets and exchanged greetings as news of Dash’s elevation reached Rajnagar block. His family said the appointment was a proud moment for the entire region.Dash, currently executive vice-president and head of global business portfolio, has been associated with Infosys for over three decades. He has led strategic initiatives in global business, customer services, delivery operations and sustainable business transformation.Born into a modest family, Dash is the fourth of five sons of late Prasanna Kumar Dash, an ayurvedic practitioner. His brothers are Sanat Kumar, Jaymuni Prasad, Manas Ranjan and Dinesh Kishore Dash.His elder brother Manas said Dash had excelled in studies from childhood. He studied at govt primary school in Kurma and govt basic school in Rajnagar before passing matriculation from SS High School, Rajnagar, with first division in 1987.After completing intermediate science from Tata College, Chaibasa, in 1989, he earned an engineering degree from IIT Kharagpur. Dash began his career in Bengaluru, later worked in Bhubaneswar and moved to the US. Now based in Los Angeles, his journey has become an inspiration for Jharkhand’s rural youth.Dash, who is from an Odia-speaking family in Jharkhand, worked in Odisha during his early years. “He has worked in every part of Infosys — delivery, sales, account management, starting a new development centre in Bhubaneswar…” Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani said.Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated Dash on his new role. “Congratulations to Shri Ashiss Kumar Dash on being appointed as the CEO-designate of Infosys. This remarkable achievement reflects your outstanding leadership and professional excellence. Wishing you a successful and distinguished tenure ahead,” Majhi wrote on X.
