Chennai: Security personnel found frisking school children and their schoolbag ahead of chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s breakfast scheme programme at the city school on Tuesday was flayed by child rights activists and organisations.Students were stopped at the entrance and their bags were checked before they were let in.“A school is a space for children, and their rights must remain at the centre, even when the most important guests arrive. Frisking children and scanning their school bags ahead of a VIP visit is not merely a security arrangement; it can make children feel that their own school has temporarily become a restricted space where they are treated with suspicion,” said Andrew Sesuraj Institution for Development Education and Action (IDEA).
