New Delhi: Taking a dig at Delhi govt over waterlogging after rain in the morning, AAP on Wednesday said the BJP dispensation has started free water sports.Sharing multiple videos on social media showing waterlogging in residential, commercial and industrial pockets, AAP functionaries claimed Delhi govt has failed to solve the problem.BJP, however, said that govt’s consistent efforts at previously vulnerable spots has ensured that no waterlogging occurs there. Wherever it does, drainage efforts begin quickly.Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj took to X to share a video of a woman floating in an inflated bathtub on a road. “This boat service is not provided by the govt but (I) salute the special contribution of BJP govt in Delhi,” he said.In another post, the AAP functionary shared a video of a man swimming in a waterlogged street and thanked the “four-engine govt” for “free water sports.”Atishi, the leader of opposition in Delhi assembly, shared a video of inundated streets in east Delhi. “Many congratulations to chief minister Rekha Gupta for starting water sports in Delhi,” she wrote. In another post about water entering a school, she said, “BJP’s four-engine govt should be ashamed. Knee-deep water has entered the municipal girls’ school in Tikri Kalan, but BJP does not care. Where is BJP’s chief minister Rekha Gupta? Where is BJP mayor Raja Iqbal Singh?”Former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia shared visuals from Patparganj. “What a mess BJP has made of Patparganj assembly (constituency)…. BJP MLAs and their extortionist goons are busy sucking the blood of shopkeepers by asking about their caste and religion… and the entire assembly (constituency) is flooded,” he said on X. AAP alleged this was a result of “institutionalised apathy and misgovernance”.Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has, however, claimed earlier that even a short spell of rain would flood the entire city for a full day. “People haven’t forgotten how, due to Kejriwal govt’s negligence, many innocent lives were lost either in waterlogged areas or due to electrocution in public spaces every monsoon. No department paid attention to cleaning drains and sewers in their respective jurisdictions. In contrast, BJP govt, within just four months, significantly improved the situation. Today, either waterlogging does not occur, or as soon as it does, the chief minister, ministers, BJP MLAs, and councillors engage in relief work,” he said.“Thanks to CM Rekha Gupta’s efforts, waterlogging has been controlled at earlier crisis points like Minto Road,” he added.
