Patna: Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Monday pledged to implement free medical care worth up to Rs 25 lakh in Bihar through the ‘Chiranjeevi Scheme’ if the Grand Alliance (GA) forms the govt in the state after the upcoming assembly elections.Speaking at a press conference in Patna, Gehlot said, “We will implement the Rajasthan model in Bihar. We are treating the entire population in Rajasthan for free. We have started opening medical colleges in every district.”He criticised the current state of Bihar’s healthcare system. “The situation here is worrying. There is a lack of specialists, inadequate equipment, and widespread negligence in treatment. Budgeted funds for the health department are not being utilised properly. There is fraud in everything,” he alleged.Congress Bihar in charge Krishna Allavaru added, “Bihar is the most sick state in the country. Rajasthan has done great work in health, but today Bihar is suffering because of Modiji, Nitish Kumar and Amit Shah. Congress has acted like sanjeevani for major illnesses and for the poor through its Chiranjeevi Yojana. There is a rule of goons in Bihar.”
