Srinagar, Sep 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has said that its proposal to provide six free domestic LPG cylinder refills annually to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families is currently under examination, with the modalities of the scheme still being worked out.
The information was provided by the government in response to a question raised by Sajad Gani Lone, MLA, regarding the issuance and verification of AAY ration cards and the implementation of the free LPG cylinder announcement made in the Budget 2026-27.
According to the government, the scheme envisages reimbursement of the refilling cost of six domestic LPG cylinders per year for AAY families through Aadhaar-enabled Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
“Necessary action for implementation of the scheme is underway,” the government said, adding that various aspects and modalities are presently being examined. It further stated that the exact financial implication will be worked out after finalisation of the scheme.
The government also furnished constituency-wise data on AAY beneficiaries.
As per the figures provided, 2,74,695 beneficiaries were covered under the AAY category in Jammu division as on January 1, 2025, while the corresponding figure for the Kashmir division stood at 6,04,417 beneficiaries. Together, the figures indicate 8,79,112 AAY beneficiaries across J&K as on that date.
In Jammu division, the district-wise figures include 32,106 beneficiaries in Jammu, 7,445 in Samba, 25,477 in Kathua, 19,242 in Udhampur, 21,? in Reasi, 94,? in Doda, 17,047 in Ramban, 19,782 in Kishtwar, 48,083 in Rajouri and 30,917 in Poonch, as reflected in the government annexure. In Kashmir division, the highest district-wise AAY beneficiary figures included 1,20,671 in Kupwara, 1,09,815 in Baramulla, 40,307 in Bandipora, 22,613 in Ganderbal, 26,450 in Srinagar, 68,785 in Budgam, 59,063 in Pulwama, 28,149 in Shopian, 48,619 in Kulgam and 79,945 in Anantnag.
The government also provided constituency-wise details of AAY ration cards after verification/re-verification of AAY, PHH and NPHH categories, along with details of additions and deletions.
The data shows 12,718 additions and 3,312 deletions in AAY ration-card records in the Kashmir division in the period covered by the supplied annexure. For Jammu division, the annexures separately provide addition/deletion figures for the corresponding periods.
