COIMBATORE: A free German language training programme has been launched at the municipal library and knowledge centre in Mettupalayam.German language trainer Hariharan, founder of a private language training institute, said the course is being conducted under the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation programme Vetri Nichayam. The training programme consists of six levels, with the first level comprising 80 hours of training. Since it is a foreign language, students are advised to undergo training for at least two months to understand and speak it effectively.Hariharan said completing only the first level would not be sufficient to secure employment. Those aspiring to work in Germany must take the international certification examination at the next level. “Once candidates obtain this certificate, they can easily find job opportunities in Germany,” he said.He added that unemployed youth and students aged between 18 and 35 years are eligible to enrol in the programme. The exam fee for the international certification test is around Rs 10,000, which is covered by the Tamil Nadu govt, he said. Students who secure certification with over 90% attendance and certification of first level test will receive incentives of around Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000. The classes are conducted daily from 10am to 1pm, and students can remain at the centre until 6pm for additional preparation.
