Chandigarh: Franchise owners completed their squads for the fifth edition of the Chandigarh Golf League (CGL) at the players’ auction held at Chandigarh Golf Club Sunday.The league, launched in 2022, has expanded to a record 24 franchise teams this year after the addition of three new franchises. Competitive bidding marked the auction as teams strengthened their line-ups with a mix of experienced golfers and emerging talent.A total of 205 golfers registered for the auction, of whom 144 were picked by franchises. The auction began with a base bid of 20,000 points, while the highest bid touched 390,000 points.Each franchise comprises 10 core players and six auction players. The league also boasts a strong pool of single-handicap golfers, with all 24 teams featuring three such players in their core squads.The Chandigarh Golf League 2026 will be held from Oct 3 to Oct 31.Congratulating team owners and players, Chandigarh Golf Club president Maj R S Virk expressed confidence that the upcoming edition would further promote competitive golf and sportsmanship among members.With the auction completed, all 24 franchises have finalised their squads for the 2026 season.
