Trichy: The state govt has picked four govt school students from Trichy district who excelled in various state-level competitions in 2024-25 for international educational tours.
A total of 125 students from across the state have been chosen based on their performances in various competitions such as Vanavil Mandram events and other cultural events. The students will visit countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Germany and Dubai to encourage talent beyond academics and expose them to global learning experiences.
From Trichy, a Class IX student of Viscountess Goschen Girls’ Higher Secondary School in the Gandhi Market area has already left for Malaysia. The other three students — one from Siruganur govt higher secondary school, one from Pullambadi govt higher secondary school, and another from Thuvakudi govt model school — are in Class X. They would go on the tour after the exams, an official said.
Officials said the initiative has increased interest among students to participate in academic and co-curricular competitions.
