Prayagraj: The Allahabad University administration has lodged an FIR against five persons, including four students, in connection with the protests and unrest that rocked the campus three days ago over a fee hike and reduction in seats.The accused have also been suspended and barred from entering the university premises.According to a complaint filed by chief proctor Atul Narayan Singh at Colonelganj police station, a group of students and outsiders allegedly scaled the boundary wall of the Senate Hall complex on July 28 and entered the campus without authorisation. The protesters are accused of taking out a symbolic funeral procession of university officials, raising slogans and staging demonstrations across the campus.University authorities alleged that the agitation disrupted classes and created an atmosphere of disorder on the campus. The administration also claimed that attempts were made to damage university property.Based on CCTV footage and other evidence collected during the investigation, the university identified students Ayush Yadav and Ashutosh Maurya, both residents of Azamgarh; Amit Yadav of Umaria district in Madhya Pradesh; Gaurav Kumar of Sonbhadra; and former student Priyanshu Bhurtiya of Rewa in Madhya Pradesh.Colonelganj police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
