Rajkot: A week after a caterer ended his life in Bhavnagar, police have booked four persons after allegations arose that they had been harassing him for repayment of high-interest loans.Mehul Mandaliya (34) hanged himself at a warehouse in the Ajaywadi-Subhashnagar area of the city on April 6.His elder brother Krinal Mandaliya, 38, lodged a complaint at Ghoghra Road police station against Pintu alias Chaska Maskawalla, Ravi Khokhar, Gopal and Lala Satiya.Krinal stated that Mehul had been under stress for six months due to financial difficulties in his business. He had borrowed money from several people at high interest rates.Krinal said when he asked Mehul about the loans, the latter avoided discussing the issue, saying the matter would be resolved soon. He further alleged that two days before the incident, Pintu Chaska Maskawalla came to their house to demand repayment and issued threats.The complaint also states that on Oct 22, 2025, Satiya took away Mehul’s scooter for alleged failure to repay.On April 6, Mehul went to the warehouse and hanged himself. He was rushed to Sir T Hospital in Bhavnagar, where doctors declared him dead.Call recordings recovered from his phone suggest that the accused had allegedly been pressuring Mehul about the repayment through repeated calls and visits.
