Ahmedabad: Gujarat govt has constituted a four-member search committee to identify candidates for the post of vice-chancellor of Gujarat Technological University (GTU), nearly two months after the tenure of its first woman VC, Rajul K Gajjar, ended.The committee, headed by Bhagyesh Jha, chairman of Gujarat Sahitya Academy, has been tasked with recommending three names. The other members include Sanjiv Oza, former vice-chancellor of Gujarat Ayurved University; Prateek Sharma, vice-chancellor of Delhi Technological University; and Yogesh Singh, vice-chancellor of University of Delhi.GTU has been functioning under an in charge VC since Aug 4, after Gajjar completed her three-year tenure on Aug 3. The govt subsequently appointed Vaibhav D Bhatt as in charge VC pending selection of a regular incumbent.GTU is among Gujarat’s largest affiliating universities, with several engineering, pharmacy, management and other professional colleges under its umbrella.Gajjar, appointed in Aug 2023, was the first woman to head GTU. She had earlier served as principal of L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad, and held additional charge as GTU VC.
