Gumla: Four members of the banned Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), including a sub-zonal commander carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh, were arrested from Aunrapaat forest under Dumri police station limits in the district, officers said on Tuesday.The operation, led by Chainpur SDPO Shruti, also yielded a cache of weapons, ammunition and communication equipment.Gumla SP Harish Bin Zaman identified the arrested extremists as Ramdev Lohra, sub-zonal commander from Bimgada village in Latehar; area commander Arbind Nayak of Kone village in Latehar; squad member Muneshwar Singh of Kita-Makka village in Lohardaga; and Jitendra Lohra of Ujra village in Gumla.Zaman said police received specific intelligence about the movement of JJMP cadres in the forest and their attempts to revive the outfit’s activities and carry out a major attack in the district.Acting on the tip-off, a special team comprising officers in-charge of Dumri, Raidih, Ghaghra, Sisai and Albert Ekka-Jari police stations launched a joint operation and apprehended the four.Police seized an AK-56 rifle, an SLR, a semi-automatic rifle, a 7.65 mm pistol, a country-made firearm, magazines and 146 rounds of ammunition. A walkie-talkie, nine mobile phones, JJMP pamphlets and a motorcycle were also recovered.The SP said the accused were being interrogated for information about other members, supporters and efforts to rebuild the outfit’s district network.Police said Ramdev was earlier associated with the PWG and CPI (Maoist). After his release from jail, he returned to extremist activities and joined JJMP.
