Thiruvananthapuram: Four persons, including a 12-year-old boy, were bitten by a stray dog in separate incidents reported from Thumbikottukonam and Thachoorkunnu in Attingal on Wednesday, triggering concern among locals.The injured have been identified as Kailasanath (12), of Karachiyil, Venu (74) and Rajappan Ashari, of Thumbikottukonam.According to locals, while Kailasanath was playing, the dog chased and attacked him. Ashari was bitten while having tea at a roadside shop, while Venu was attacked while walking through the area.Later the same day, Indira (62), a native of Karachiyil, was bitten while returning home after receiving food distributed in connection with a temple festival. The dog reportedly approached from behind, tore her saree and bit her leg.All the injured sought treatment at taluk hospital, Valiyakunnu in Attingal.Three more persons were also reportedly bitten in the locality, though their details are yet to be confirmed.Residents suspect that the same stray dog was responsible for all attacks reported in the area on Wednesday. This has raised fresh concerns over increasing menace of stray dogs and the need for urgent preventive measures by authorities.
