T’puram: Kilimanoor police on Tuesday arrested all four accused in the abduction and torture of a father and son over a rejected marriage proposal, with the prime accused, Sudheesh (26), being arrested later in the afternoon after his three associates had been taken into custody earlier in the day.The three co-accused, R S Aromal (22), R Lal Krishna (23) and Arun (24), were arrested during separate operations. Police later apprehended Sudheesh, who had allegedly gone into hiding after the incident.According to probe, the case stems from a marriage proposal made by Sudheesh nearly two years ago. After Anil Kumar (51) of Vadasserikonam, rejected Sudheesh’s proposal for his daughter, Sudheesh allegedly developed a deep grudge and conspired with the three others to exact revenge.Police said Kumar was lured to an unfinished building in Vellalloor on the pretext of discussing construction work. Once there, he was allegedly overpowered, tied up and brutally assaulted. The accused subsequently brought Kumar’s son, Achu (21), to the same building, where he too was allegedly chained to a pillar and tortured. The victims were threatened that the family, including Kumar’s wife and daughter, would be killed if they informed police. The case took a dramatic turn when Achu managed to leave the building on the pretext of bringing his mother to the hideout. Instead, he alerted police, who rushed to the spot, rescued the victims and launched an intensive manhunt for the accused.During the probe, police recovered country-made bombs, a firearm, chains and several weapons from the abandoned building. Police also found a soundproof room, which they believe had been specially prepared to carry out the torture without attracting attention.Police have booked the accused under attempt to murder and abduction under BNS and Explosive Substances Act. They have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days, police said. Further investigation is under way.
