Jaisalmer: Bijarad police arrested four men for abducting a class 12 student who had arrived to appear for his board exam from the school premises, assaulting him brutally, and later dumping him on a roadside in Barmer district Monday. The four accused have been identified as Naryanram (40), Bajrang, Tejpal and Lakshman, all residents of Barmer. Police said an FIR has been registered and accused are being interrogated to determine the motive behind the assault.
According to the police, all the four accused abducted the student, Prakash (17), and took him away in a Bolero vehicle. He was later found about 9 kms away lying on the road with severe injuries on his face, broken fingers, and one of his nail pulled out. Exam centre superintendent Bhanwarlal Mayla said that the incident took place when he had gone to the police station to collect the exam papers. He said other people at the scene tried to save the student but could not stop the abduction.Following this, the school staff immediately informed the police about the incident. Witnesses at the scene said the student was shouting, “save me, save me” while he was being abducted. A video of the same was recorded by a school staff in which abductors could be seen forcibly dragging away the boy as they held his hands and feet.Police found him after passer-bys found them after finding him lying on the roadside unconscious with severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital in a critical state.Circle Inspector Vishnaram said the student had come to appear for his Political Science paper. “He was kidnapped from inside the school premises and assaulted brutally. He was bleeding heavily when we found him,” he said.
