Sitamarhi: Four members of a family died of asphyxiation while cleaning a septic tank at Kurhar village under Bokhara block in Sitamarhi district on Tuesday night.According to police, Rajiv Sahani (45) first entered his septic tank for cleaning but lost consciousness inside. His brothers, Ravindra Sahani (38) and Vinay Sahani (24), and his 14-year-old son, Krishna Kumar, rushed in to rescue him but also fainted after allegedly inhaling poisonous gases. The four men were referred to Sadar hospital, Sitamarhi, due to their critical condition, but they died during treatment late at night.A few women from the neighbourhood, who attempted to help, also felt dizzy and were admitted to the PHC by Bokhara police. They were later discharged. The incident cast a pall of gloom over the village during Holi.
