Begusarai: In a cruel twist of fate, a 21-year-old youth lost his life in a fatal collision between his motorcycle and an SUV, just four days before his wedding, late Saturday night in Begusarai. The tragedy has sent shockwaves in the locality.The deceased, Amrit Kumar alias Prince, a resident of ward no. 9 under Raghunathpur panchayat in Sahebpurkamal police station area, was heading towards Hira Tol Zero Mile on NH-333B when the accident occurred, said Sahebpurkamal SHO Sintu Kumar.“The speeding SUV, moving in the same direction, rammed into the rear of his bike. Amrit was flung onto the road, while his motorcycle got trapped under the SUV. The driver managed to free the bike and attempted to flee with the vehicle. However, alert locals chased and caught him before handing him over to the police. The SUV has been seized,” the SHO said.Amrit’s father, Pankaj Yadav, said his son’s wedding was scheduled on Feb 20 and the ‘tilak’ ceremony had already been performed a few days earlier. Invitation cards had also been distributed. “We had invited relatives and friends, and even on Saturday night, Amrit had stepped out to distribute wedding cards. But destiny took him away from us. The entire family was eagerly preparing for the celebration. I am shattered,” he said.Amrit was the elder of two brothers. His marriage had been arranged with a girl from Maharra village in neighbouring Munger district. “The girl’s family is equally devastated. They are struggling to come to terms with the tragedy,” Pankaj added.
