Mysuru: The Mysuru district administration will roll out a four-day Pulse Polio immunisation drive from June 28 to July 1, targeting 2,19,521 children aged below five years, DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy said.Chairing a preparatory meeting of taluk and district-level officers at the ZP hall on Wednesday, the DC said no child under five years should be left out. “We must sustain our polio-free status. All departments should work in coordination to achieve 100% coverage,” he said. Polio drops will be administered at designated booths from 8am on Sunday. House-to-house visits to cover children who missed will be from June 29 to July 1.As part of National Immunisation Day 2026, health officials will visit 7,78,059 households in the district. District health officer Dr PC Kumaraswamy said 1,641 booths, 1,396 high-risk area sites, 51 mobile and transit teams, 328 supervisors and 6,772 vaccinators have been deployed.The DHO said one student per school will be nominated as ‘Polio Ambassador’. Keep classrooms ready by 8am on June 28 for booths. Deploy NSS and NCC students as volunteers. Sensitise parents of LKG and UKG children, he instructed.“With the motto ‘Every drop counts, every child is precious’, a special four-day drive will be held in high-risk areas and transit points like bus stands and railway stations,” Dr Kumaraswamy said. The DC said preserving polio-free status requires that not a single child under the age of five be missed.
