FOSTTA submits memorandum to Surat collector Tejas Parmar

Surat: The Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Associations (FOSTTA) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Surat Collector Tejas Parmar, urging the district administration to ensure speedy and hassle-free disbursal of relief to textile traders affected by the recent floods. The association said heavy rainfall on July 7 and 8 inundated basements and shops in nearly 30 textile markets across the city, causing extensive damage to stock, infrastructure and business operations. Thousands of traders suffered heavy financial losses after floodwaters entered commercial establishments, disrupting business in Surat’s key textile hubs. While welcoming the state govt’s relief package, FOSTTA urged the administration to promptly publicise the scheme’s details, including eligibility criteria, the list of required documents and the application procedure, so that affected traders can file claims without delay. The association also sought permission to work closely with the district administration in creating awareness about the scheme and facilitating its implementation to ensure that all eligible traders receive the benefits.FOSTTA further proposed setting up a dedicated helpdesk at its office to provide free assistance with application filing, documentation and other procedural formalities.
