Hyderabad: A day after the ACB filed a charge sheet in the Formula-E case, BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress govt of indulging in diversionary politics and misleading the public on key issues. He said the revival of the case is a deliberate attempt by the Congress govt to divert public attention from the BRS’ demand to grant legal status for six guarantees through a private member’s bill.He expressed confidence that the case would not stand in court and accused the govt of targeting him as part of a political vendetta, including by harassing officials. “We have complete faith in the judiciary. Justice will prevail in the end,” he said. Reiterating his stand, KTR said the Formula-E case is “completely baseless” and lacks substance. He pointed out that even the govt has admitted in its charge sheet that there was no wrongdoing.“The Rs 45 crore transferred from a bank in Telangana remains safe in the designated account. Not a single rupee has been diverted,” he clarified. The former IT minister accused the govt of exaggerating facts and misleading the public. “They are projecting Rs 45 crore as Rs 600–Rs 700 crore to create confusion. The people of Telangana will not believe such fabricated claims,” he said. The BRS leader also questioned why no individual has been named as a beneficiary in the charge sheet and suggested that the govt could retrieve the funds if required, as they remain secure in the organisation’s account. Defending the initiative, KTR highlighted that the Formula-E race was brought to Hyderabad to enhance the city’s global reputation and attract large-scale investments in the electric vehicle sector. He stated that the event generated nearly Rs 700 crore in economic benefits within a week, as confirmed by Nielsen. “It was a prestigious event that positioned Hyderabad on the global map,” he added. On TDR ‘scam’“TDR is a massive scam. I clearly stated a year and a half ago that Revanth Reddy’s family members and his associates were buying TDRs indiscriminately and setting the stage for a huge scam. Even during last year’s budget session, I explicitly mentioned that they were purchasing TDRs and would later introduce regulations making their use mandatory. Exactly as predicted, the Congress govt has now introduced new real estate regulations, directing real estate companies to purchase TDRs,” he said. “This is definitely a major scandal. Once our govt returns to power, we will conduct a comprehensive investigation into this TDR scam and expose the role of everyone involved. Since every detail—who sold, who is buying, and who is reselling to whom—can be tracked in this process, all those involved will surely face consequences in the coming days, he said.
