Salem: Former TVK candidate M Arun Kumar on Saturday joined AIADMK after meeting party general secretary and former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at the latter’s residence here.Arun Kumar, who had earlier served as the AIADMK union councillor in Ayothiapattinam, later joined TVK. He was initially announced as the TVK candidate in the Edappadi assembly constituency. His nomination was rejected after election officials found that the proposers listed in his papers could not be verified. The substitute candidate’s papers were also rejected on similar grounds, leaving TVK without a contender against Palaniswami in the constituency.By joining the AIADMK, Arun Kumar shifted political loyalties, strengthening the party’s grassroots presence in Salem district.(Photos: TOI)
