Mumbai, The central government has appointed former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin, ex-bureaucrat Annie George Mathew, and consultancy BCG India Chairman Janmejaya Kumar Sinha to RBI central board.

They have been appointed as part-time, Non-official Directors on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India for four years with effect from August 24 or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the central bank said in a release on Monday.

Last week, the government had re-appointed industrialist Anand Gopal Mahindra as part-time, Non-official Director on the board.

Former ISRO Chairman Somanath Sreedhara Panicker was also appointed on the board last week.

Other members of the board include Revathy Iyer, a retired officer from the Indian Audit & Accounts Service, who went on to become the Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General, Government Accounts, and Sachin Chaturvedi, Director General of think tank Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS).

Governor Sanjay Malhotra, deputy governors Swaminathan J, Poonam Gupta, SC Murmu and Rohit Jain, economic affairs secretary Anuradha Thakur and financial services secretary Sanjay Lohia are also on the board. PTI
