Colva: Fatorda police have registered a forgery case against three persons, including an advocate and a notary, in an attempt to fraudulently mutate a property in Salcete.Police said the complaint was filed by Prakash Ganapathi Bhat, managing director of Varnada Industries Pvt. Ltd.In his complaint, Bhat alleged that the accused fraudulently forged his signature and prepared a false affidavit and a no-objection certificate (NOC) without his consent. The documents were allegedly intended to be used before the mamlatdar of Margao, Salcete, to complete mutation formalities for a property at St. Jose De Areal.The complainant said the property had already been sold to Varnada Industries Pvt. Ltd. in June 2024 through a registered sale deed executed before the sub-registrar of Salcete, Margao. He also said that the property is currently mortgaged to a bank.Police said the alleged act amounts to cheating and forgery to alter the property’s ownership records. Further investigation is under way.
