Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the prevailing flood situation and the difficulties being faced by students and colleges in the affected parts of the state, higher education department has extended the timeline for the ongoing Phase-I admission process for undergraduate courses for 2026-27 academic session.The revised schedule applies to admissions to all plus-three degree courses offered by the state public universities, govt, aided, unaided and law colleges participating under Student Academic Management System.As per the revised timeline, candidates allotted seats in the third and final selection round can report to their allotted institutions for admissions till 5 pm on Aug 5, while institutions have been given time till 9 pm the same day to update the admission data in the e-Space portal.The department has also rescheduled the waiting or spot admission round. The list of wait-listed candidates based on the actual vacancies available after the third round will be published on Aug 8 noon in the institutions’ e-Space portal and students’ login.The department notified on Monday that the wait-listed candidates will have to physically report to their respective higher education institutions between 10 am on Aug 10 and 4 pm on Aug 11 to submit their Common Application Form and supporting documents for participation in the spot admission process. While candidates are expected to report in person, an authorised representative carrying a valid identity proof can also complete the formalities on their behalf, it added.The merit list of selected candidates from among those who report for the process will be published on Aug 12 at 2 pm on the notice boards and websites of the institutions. Selected candidates will also be informed through phone calls or SMS.The final admission, including document verification, fee collection through online payment modes and updating of admission details in the e-Space portal, will be carried out between 10 am on Aug 13 and 5 pm on Aug 14.The higher education department said the schedule for Phase-II admissions will be announced separately at a later date. The extension is expected to provide relief to thousands of aspirants whose admission process was disrupted by widespread flooding across several districts, affecting transportation and normal functioning of educational institutions.
