Pune: Former chief minister and senior Congress member Prithviraj Chavan claimed there is growing unease within NCP (SP), and five to six MPs of Sharad Pawar’s party are anxious about their future. But NCP (SP)’s working president Supriya said that all eight MPs of her party are together and ruled out any possibility of a split.Chavan made the statement while interacting with reporters, alleging that the BJP is on a spree to finish off every party in the opposition. “Modi-Shah’s govt may do the same thing with Sharad Pawar’s party as they did with Uddhav Thackeray’s party,” the Congressman said.Recently, Shiv Sena (UBT) received a major jolt when six of its MPs switched to Eknath Shinde’s party. Referring to the second split in Uddhav’s party, Chavan said, “After six MPs switched over, there is unease among the MPs of Sharad Pawar’s party. I do not know whether they will actually switch to any Mahayuti parties, but according to my information, they are anxious.”Chavan’s comment came against the backdrop of NCP (SP) Shirur Lok Sabha MP Amol Kolhe’s recent statement during an interaction with reporters that if he gets an offer from Mahayuti, he would think about it. After his statement drew political reactions, he claimed that his statement was misconstrued.Supriya on Friday said, “I do not know what information Chavan has about our party, but I will call him to discuss and seek more details from him. All eight of our MPs remain together, travel together, and discuss all the issues among ourselves. I can assure you that nobody is anxious.”Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah have been indulging in pressure politics against the opposition. “Chavan is a senior member of the Congress and he would have shared information that he has with NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar,” he added.I do not know what information Chavan has about our party, but I will call him to discuss and seek more details from him. All eight of our MPs remain together, travel together and discuss all the issues among ourselves. I can assure you that nobody is anxiousSupriya Sule I NCP (SP) working president
