Pune: Chatushrungi police have registered a case of voluntarily causing hurt against five students of a prominent college on Senapati Bapat Road for allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old student of the same college at Model Colony in Shivajinagar around 7.30 am on Monday.The injured student lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday evening.According to the police, the students had gathered at Model Colony when they started playing pranks on one another. The students, who hail from North Indian states, stay at different paying guest accommodations and are pursuing computer science courses at the college.Senior inspector Uttam Bhajnawale of Chatushrungi police said, “The five students, including two girls, teased the complainant, saying that he looked like a broker or an agent. The complainant objected to these remarks and confronted them. The five students then kicked and punched him.”“The injured student did not take kindly to the remarks and confronted them, following which the five students assaulted him,” he said.
