Ahmedabad: A proposed Rs 150 crore to Rs 200 crore hotel project in Sanand GIDC has hit a roadblock after the developer alleged that the physical site does not match the plot configuration shown in Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) auction documents and the approved master plan. The company has paid around Rs 25 crore for the plot and has sought intervention from GIDC and the chief minister.According to sources, a Delhi-based company bought a plot measuring around 20,000 sq m through a GIDC e-auction. However, when the company sought physical possession, it found that a 22-metre-wide utility corridor shown in the auction layout and master plan was missing at the site. The company has flagged discrepancies between the physical plot, a revised sketch subsequently shared with it and the original master plan. It has also written to the chief minister, seeking intervention. In a letter to GIDC, the company sought corrective action before possession is handed over. “Kindly restore the 22-metre utility corridor in front of our plot in strict accordance with the originally approved master plan and the e-auction documents. Also hand over the physical possession of the plot only after the site has been brought into conformity with the approved layout,” the letter stated.Sahil Gupta, a partner in the company, said the firm had completed the payment but was unable to proceed with the project because of the alleged mismatch.“We paid the full amount of around Rs 25 crore in Jan, but when we were offered physical possession, the 22-metre utility corridor shown in the layout was missing. We have written to GIDC many times and have approached the chief minister as well,” Gupta said.He said the developer had already tied up with a leading international hotel brand and planned to build a 250-room property at an estimated investment of Rs 150 crore to Rs 200 crore.“Until we get physical possession of the same plot that was displayed in the layout, we cannot move ahead,” Gupta said.Repeated calls to GIDC officials went unanswered.
