New Delhi: Five people, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with a burglary case involving jewellery worth around Rs 1 crore in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area.A house was broken into at Arya Nagar Apartments; the complainant had locked the house on March 31 and returned the next day to find the locks broken. Gold, diamond and silver jewellery worth about Rs 1 crore, along with nearly Rs 12 lakh in cash, were found missing.DCP (east) Rajee Kumar said, “Two teams were formed to investigate the case. CCTV footage from the area and adjoining stretches was examined, and the movement of suspects was tracked over several kilometres. Based on technical inputs and local information, the two accused were first arrested on April 8. Another accused was held on April 10, following which two more, including a goldsmith who allegedly received stolen property, were apprehended.”The accused have been identified as Babloo (36), who works in a factory, Rampal (38), who works as a painter, Vishal (34), who helps load tempos, a housewife, Pinky (35) and the goldsmith, Ravi Soni (31). Some of the jewellery and cash were seized along with tools used in the burglary.Police said the group would identify locked houses during the day and target them later. Stolen jewellery was allegedly disposed of through local contacts, while some items were hidden.
