Jaipur: The Inaugural National Veterans Shooting Ball Championship for men’s age group 50 plus and women’s above 25 years will be held for the first time in Ghaziabad.According to Dr OP Machra, general secretary of Rajasthan Shooting Ball Association and national vice president of Shooting Ball Federation of India, several present and former international players will be seen in action during the tournament.The names of the selected players for the Rajasthan veterans men’s and women’s teams, which will participate in the inaugural National Veterans Shooting Ball Championship, to be held in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on Sept 19 and 20, were announced.According to Rajasthan state association secretary Dr OP Machra, a Rajasthan team selection training camp was held on Sept 13 at the AK Gopalan Sports Club, Mazdoor Maidan, Bais Godam, Jaipur.Following this, the state team was selected by selection committee members which included former international player Mohammad Faiq Bhaya from Kota, international player Altaf Hussain from Tonk, Munawar Baig and Induraj Sharma from Jaipur, and technical chairperson AK Oberoi.Association general secretary Dr Machra said that the veterans championship, being held for the first time, will be a union of old shooting ball players from across the country.

Veteran players from all states will participate in this, Chhatrapati Shivaji Award winning players from Maharashtra, Vikram Award winning players from Madhya Pradesh, teams from all states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi AIIMS, Central Secretariat, Uttarakhand will participate. There will be an atmosphere of joy in the two-day championship.According to state association president DN Upadhyay, the names of the selected players for the state teams are as follows.Men’s team: Dev Swaroop Mehra (captain), Manoj Sharma (vice-captain), Devkaran Shakywal, Hari Singh Shaktiwat, Surendra Rathod, Munshi Khan Teli, Vinod Sen, Narendra Singh, Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, Anil Gupta, Ram Pratap Godara, Vijay Jaiswal. Coach: Om Prakash. Manager: Narendra Kumar Kajla.Women’s team: Prerna Rathore (captain), Muskan Kathed (vice-captain), Shabana, Suva Aichra, Srushti Joram, Monica, Roshni, Aarti, Anuradha Sharma, Aarti, Suman Shekhawat.
