Varanasi: In a late Saturday night incident, motorcycle-borne miscreants opened indiscriminate firing on a student and fled.The student, however, narrowly escaped the attack. Later, students blocked the road near the Birla hostel gate, demanding arrest of the accused. ADCP, Kashi, Vaibhav Bangar said an FIR was registered against five assailants.After the assurance of the police the students cleared the road on Saturday midnight. However, another section of the students again blocked the hostel road by staging a sit-in on Sunday morning. They demanded sacking of chief proctor and better facilities and security for the students.Earlier, late on Saturday night panic gripped the hostel road on the BHU campus when the sound of indiscriminate firing was heard. A BA third-year student and Birla hostel inmate Raushan Mishra claimed that he was standing along with his friend at the hostel gate when three miscreants on a motorcycle raided the place and opened indiscriminate fire though he narrowly escaped the attack.The ADCP and ACP, Bhelupur Gaurav Kumar assured the students that the attackers would be arrested soon.
