Nagpur: Investigation into the firing on Congress corporator Subham Motghare’s residence at Shravan Nagar is set to be shifted to Crime Branch, with the mastermind and a mysterious woman linked to the case still on the run.So far, seven accused have been arrested, including the shooter identified as Ankush Tomaskar and the bike rider Rushabh Nagdeve. The case was cracked with a clue picked up by naik constable Roshan Tiwari, Nitin Verma and PSI Nitin Chulpar. Police suspect the attack may have been a supari (contract crime).The case was registered at Wathoda police station. Police stations lack dedicated manpower needed for a focused probe in such cases. Sources said commissioner of police Vishwas Nangre Patil has decided to hand over the probe to Crime Branch, which will follow structured and more focused investigation methods to unearth a deep-rooted criminal angle.Investigators plan to nab another four to five persons and are likely to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), given the organised nature of the crime.Crime Branch will also work to establish the exact motive behind the attack and identify those who allegedly hired the shooters. Crime Branch will prioritise tracking down the alleged mastermind and the mysterious woman, said sources.
