Ramban, July 16: A firefighter sustained serious injuries after a tyre of a burning tourist sleeper coach exploded during a firefighting operation at Karol in Ramban district on Thursday.

Officials said the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Ramban responded promptly after receiving an alert about a fire involving a Rajasthan-registered tourist sleeper coach bearing registration number RJ27PC9921.

According to the bus driver, the vehicle caught fire after its tyres reportedly overheated, causing flames to erupt. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire sleeper coach within minutes.

During the operation, SGFM 480 Manohar Kumar suffered severe Leg injuries when one of the tyres exploded while firefighters were dousing the flames.
He was immediately evacuated for medical treatment.

The F&ES team managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby vehicles and property. The bus, however, was extensively damaged in the incident.

The cause of the fire is being ascertained after the cooling operation will be ended.
