Hyderabad: A fire broke out at a mobile accessories shop inside a commercial complex in Kukatpally early on Saturday morning. While the shop was largely destroyed, officials confirmed that no one was injured.According to fire department officials, the control room received a distress call at 6.30 am about a fire in a shop at Padmavathi Plaza Centre. As the shops were closed, major damage was averted. On noticing the fire in the complex, local residents alerted the fire control room.

A fire tender was rushed to the spot from Kukatpally fire station, and the blaze was brought under control within an hour. “The fire was of electrical origin. Prima facie, it appears to have started in the power supply lines of the shop located on the ground floor of the complex. All mobile phones and other items in the shop were destroyed. The total damage is yet to be assessed, but it could amount to a few lakh,” said a senior officer from Kukatpally fire station.Upon receiving information about the incident, other shopkeepers rushed to check whether their stock was safe. However, timely action prevented the flames from spreading to neighbouring shops.
