Jaipur: A fire broke out in the basement of Signature Elite Mall near Narayan Singh Circle Tuesday around 2 pm, triggering panic among people at the mall. The fire was reported in an electrical panel and was brought under control by two fire tenders within 20 minutes. As a precautionary measure, the mall’s power supply was switched off and firefighters began efforts to put out the blaze. No casualties were reported.A preliminary assessment suggests that a short circuit in the electrical panel may have caused the fire. Although the fire was confined to a limited area, the basement filled with smoke.SHO of SMS Hospital police station, Jitendra Kumar Verma, said, “It appears that the fire was caused by wires melting due to the heat in basement. However, more smoke than fire had spread. We immediately took action and had all the vehicles moved out from the basement.”
