Bokaro: A fire broke out in the casualty ward of Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) on Tuesday. The fire reportedly originated from an air conditioner in the adjacent sisters’ room. Hospital staff evacuated four patients safely out. No injuries were reported. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bibhuti Bhushan Karunamay said all patients were safely shifted to the old casualty building. Chief of Communication, BSL, Manikant Dhan, said, “The incident occurred at around 2.30 pm. Smoke was seen coming out of a window air conditioner installed in a room adjacent to the new casualty wing of Bokaro General Hospital, which was probably caused by a short circuit. The fire wing team took immediate action and controlled the smoke coming out of the window AC and the possible short circuit. Tere was no damage to any equipment or hospital building except the window AC. All the patients are safe and there are no casualties. At present, everything is normal in the hospital.” TNN
