Pune: On Monday, a minor fire broke out at Sassoon General Hospital in the attic of the sister room in the male general ward number 3 located above the ground floor of the building of the ground plus two building. The materials needed for the ward were kept in this place. The room was stocked with books, registers and a small medicine wheelchair which were all damaged in the fire. No injuries were reported. When the fire brigade’s rescue team reached the spot, the security and staff present there were trying to extinguish the fire with the help of existing ABC fire extinguishers. The fire caused some smoke in the ward for which the ventilators and exhaust blowers were used to remove the smoke from the place. There were 70 patients in the ward who were then safely evacuated. With the help of the team, a line was formed and the fire was completely extinguished by hitting the fire with jet and spray. The fire was reported at 5am and was doused within the first few minutes, said fire officials.
