Kolkata/Siliguri: After a complaint against Mamata Banerjee, another was lodged against Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.The complaint against Abhishek was lodged at the Bhowanipore Police Station for allegedly making provocative and hate-inciting remarks on social media. But Lalbazar did not confirm whether police had drawn up an FIR or not. The complaint was lodged by a Bhowanipore resident, Arnabkanti Das, who accused the Diamond Harbour MP of abusing his political power and attempting to disrupt communal harmony. As evidence, Das submitted a copy of a May 2 post from Banerjee’s X handle, which read: “Even if you are born 10 times, your ‘anti-Bengal Gujarati gang’ cannot harm even a fraction of my Diamond Harbour model.” Das claimed the post promoted hatred against a community. This development follows a series of legal challenges for Banerjee, who was previously booked by cybercrime cops over poll speeches. Police have started a preliminary inquiry.The FIR against Mamata Banerjee, registered at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station, is linked to remarks she allegedly made during the 2025 Eid celebration on Red Road here, and later, at a protest stage ahead of the 2026 elections. The complaint was lodged by BJP worker and advocate Rinki Chatterjee, who alleged Mamata’s statements “hurt religious sentiments and targeted Hindutva ideology and the Hindu community”.Chatterjee “I am waiting for whatever legal action can be taken under the law.”
