Additionally, the father-in-law has been named in the case. The complaint was lodged by the deceased’s father Daljit Singh, a resident of Boot village in Kapurthala. He informed authorities that his daughter, Pooja, married Charanjit Singh in 2021, but the union was allegedly marred by frequent disputes at her matrimonial home. Charanjit is currently in jail.According to the complainant, Pooja’s mother-in-law recently called to inform him of her sudden demise. Despite Daljit’s request to delay the funeral until his family arrived from Kapurthala, the accused allegedly proceeded with the cremation before they reached the village.Finding the hasty cremation suspicious, the family alleged the death was not natural. SHO inspector Paramdeep Singh stated that a thorough probe is underway, and necessary legal action will follow the investigation into the conduct of the relatives.
