Nagpur: Hudkeshwar police have registered an offence against three hotel and lodge operators for allegedly using the brand name and logo of a multinational hospitality chain without authorisation.The case was registered following a complaint by Narendra Kharve (42), a nodal officer of the company. According to police, Kharve is authorised to initiate legal action against establishments allegedly forging or misusing the company’s brand and logo.Acting on information provided by Kharve, a team from the Crime Branch’s Social Security Department raided three establishments in Vihirgaon, Telephone Nagar and Mata Nagar. Police identified the accused as Khushal Wadekar of Vihirgaon, Chetan Motiram Charade of Mata Nagar and Prajwal Kamble of Telephone Nagar, Dighori.According to the complaint, the three accused were allegedly using the company’s brand identity to attract customers and generate revenue.Hudkeshwar police registered a case against them under Sections 345(3), 347(1) and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 103 and 104 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999, as mentioned in the police report.Police said further investigation was underway to check whether other establishments in the city were similarly misusing the company’s trademark.
