Kanpur: Kanpur Dehat police registered a case and launched a search operation after a death threat was allegedly made to UP Cabinet minister Rakesh Sachan through a call to Dial-112.Devipur outpost in-charge Ateendra Kumar said that on June 1 at 2.21 pm, constable Shyammilan posted at PRB Devipur received information that Rammilan, a resident of Makholi village in the Reuna area of Kanpur Nagar, had called Dial-112 and issued a death threat to Cabinet Minister Rakesh Sachan.Taking the information seriously, police launched an investigation. The Devipur outpost in-charge later submitted a written complaint at Bhognipur police station, following which an FIR was registered against the accused. Police deployed a team to search for the accused and gathered technical evidence related to the call.Station house officer Suman Dixit said, “A case has been registered on the basis of information received from PRV. The matter is being investigated and efforts are being made to arrest the accused at the earliest.”A police official privy to the investigation said that technical evidence related to the call was also being gathered to trace the person who made the threat at the earliest. Police are further investigating the motive behind the threat and whether the accused has links with any organisation or other individuals.
